The tentative agreement passed today May 22, 2008 with 105 people voting. The items below are the changes for the next two year contract. Thank you to Ross Cardew and Dave Wrobel for supervising the vote in the polling area.

Salary Schedule A:

                  2008 – 2009 School Year               2.0%    to be paid in an off-schedule
                                                                         lump sum payment prior to June 30, 2008                                                                                              

2008-2009 School Year                  Schedule A reflects:
                                          .5% increase for steps zero (0)- 9.5;
                                                       1.0% increase for step10

 *2009 – 2010 School Year            Schedule A reflects a 1.0% increase

 *   “If-come clause” for 2009-2010:   Provided 20j remains at 2008-2009 funding level, teachers will receive a .5% off-schedule increase if 2009-2010 fall student enrollment is greater than 50 students over the 2008-2009 fall student enrollment.  Off schedule payment to be made by June 30, 2010. 

**Article III,  Section A: Salary Schedule, Number 2  (Tracks):

·         Eliminate Tracks B (BA + 20) & D (MA + 15)   (NEW)

·         The result would be four (4) tracks:

1.       A = BA or BS (current A)

2.       B = Master’s Degree or BA+50 (current C)

3.       C = Master’s Degree + 30 (current E)

4.       D = MA=45, Ed. Specialist, Ed. D (current F) 

(Also requires changes to Salary Schedule A to be consistent with above) **For all hired effective July 1, 2008 or after

Ninth Grade Academy/Link Crew:  (New)

One (1) Coordinator will receive an additional planning hour. 
Academy/Link Crew teachers will receive a 1.5% stipend (MA-0 step) for the year 2008-2009 and a 1.0% stipend (MA- 0 step) effective with the 2009-2010 year.

 Article IV: Teaching Hours, Section E: Staff Meetings:   After school PD hours worked are the same as present numbers of hours, Additional collaborative time of up to eight hours is built into the regular school day

 Staff meetings, departmental meetings, professional development, school improvement, and/or grade-level meetings shall require the attendance of teachers and may be scheduled outside the regular school day.  Up to eight (8) two (2) hour meetings may be scheduled not to exceed one each month.  If a staff meeting is part of a two-hour meeting, the staff meeting will not exceed one-hour.  The above meetings shall not be held in the same week that all staff in the building are required to return for evening parent-teacher conferences, open house or in December.
The district will provide up to eight (8) - two (2) hour early release/late start meetings for the purpose of professional development, school improvement and the improvement of student achievement provided that the State continues to allow instructional hours to be used for the purpose of professional development.

 Article XIV Professional Study Committee and Professional Development Training, Section C, Continuing Education Credits (CEC) 

Change (6) day credit, $50 pay out if days not used
4.    A maximum of six (6) days credit may be accumulated for a period not to exceed twenty-four months duration.  Failure to use these accumulated days within the above noted time will result in a payment of $50 per day if request for payment is submitted in writing by the teacher prior to June 1.

At the end of the 2007/2008 school year, all CEC time accumulated during the summer months will be credited to the teacher’s CEC bank provided the teacher has submitted the proper verification of attendance.  The date for summer CEC time will be recorded as the third Monday in September.  This practice will continue through the remainder of this contract. 

    • Clarify:  CEC will not be approved for university credits until such time as the teacher reaches the highest salary lane possible.
    • It is understood that in special circumstances more than two (2) consecutive days may be granted only with the approval of the Superintendent.

            School Calendar:

·         Tenured Teacher Days:  183
      ·         Non-Tenured Teacher Days: 188 – For all teachers hired after July 1, 2008.

  The additional teacher days shall be credited toward the new teacher professional development requirement.  

§          First year of probation – the teacher will be required to fulfill five additional (188 total) days of professional development. (Up to two of the five days to be used for the purposes of new orientation.) 

§          Second year of probation – the teacher will be required to fulfill only 3 additional (186 total) days of professional development

§          Third & fourth years of probation -  the teacher will be required to fulfill only 2 additional (185 total) days of professional development 

·         Student Days:  176

                Need to work out specific calendar

 Article III,  Section F: Health Insurance: (Change in deductible rates)

 ·         Coverage to be offered according to the eligibility requirements of the carrier and agreed to by the Federation and the Board shall be as follows:

 Michigan Blue Cross/Blue Shield Comprehensive Major Medical – 1500 Dual Funded Wrap with Michigan Employee Benefit Services or comparable coverage. The annual deductible for medical insurance shall be $300/$525.  The drug rider shall be $5 for generic and $20 for brand name.

Article III,  Section N: Preparation Period Substitute Pay:

                        For the 2008/2009 school year - $30 per hour
