LAMPHERE FEDERATION OF TEACHERS Tentative Agreement Passes--LFT Members voted on Friday, June 1st to pass the tentative agreement. The agreement was reached on May 23 at approximately 9:40 p.m. The contractual agreement is for one year. We are still working on the details for the calendar for the school year. The first day for teachers will be Wednesday, August 29th. Students will report on Tuesday September 4th for a half day. The changes in the new contract include: 1. Article
III: Salary Schedule A1.5% increase 2. Article III, Section F:
Health Insurance: Increase Prescription Co-Pay for brand name drugs to $20 (up from $18,
generic co-pay remains at $5, deductible remains the same ($225 single, $450 family) 2. Article
IV, Section E: Staff meetings Building staff meetings, departmental, professional development,
school improvement and/or grade-level meetings shall require the attendance of teachers
and may be scheduled outside the regular school day. Up to one (1) meeting may be
scheduled each month which will not last longer than one hour. If a meeting is not
scheduled in the month of December, a second meeting may be scheduled in another month
other than June. (down from
14, additional (4) meetings dropped) Up to (4) four (90) minute meetings for the purpose of professional
development/school improvement may be scheduled during the school year. No more than one
(1) ninety (90) minute meeting may be scheduled in one month. (change from meetings may be scheduled in 60 or 90

The above meetings shall not be held in the same week that all staff
in that building are required to return for evening parent-teacher conferences or open
house. A calendar of meeting dates will be published at least thirty (30)
days prior to the meetings. Meetings shall be scheduled on Tuesdays. School year one year contract

AFT Summer Field Trip--The AFT's Summer Learning Calendar has grown into the AFT Summer Field Trip. This year, JacobGirAFT takes students on a virtual safari through Africa to learn about the people, cultures and animals in this continent. The Summer Field Trip is ideally suited for ages 7-11, but even younger children can participate with help from parents or child care providers. AFT contents to work with the National Geographic Society and its My Wonderful World campaign to include top-notch geographic resources in the Summer Field Trip. New exciting online games will be added including a Pokemon-style game featuring questions about the African continent and Mancala, a traditional African game that helps students build math skills. Downloadable computer wallpapers and video clips from the National Geographic Society will also be available. The site is www.aft.org/fieldtrip. Track Changes-- If you have taken enough coursework to move to a new salary track you must inform the Human Resources Office by August 1st.
